The Cycling Tour of Spain goes thorugh Benidorm this Sunday

21 August 2017
La Vuelta pasa este domingo por Benidorm

The stage is rebroadcast in 190 countries, in which you will see from the air the Paseo de Poniente and Foietes Park

Cyclists will arrive in the city about 15.35 hours and 90 minutes before the test caravan

The Vuelta 2017 will pass through Benidorm this Sunday, August 27, within the course of the 9th stage, which runs between Orihuela and El Poble Nou de Benitatxell, as reported today by the councilors of Sports and Mobility, Arturo Cabrillo and José Ramón González de Zárate. Riders are estrimated to arrive at the city about 15.35 hours, coming from Villajoyosa, and crossing the Paseo de Poniente, and the avenues Jaime I, Alfonso Puchades and Comunidad Valenciana.

The Councilor for Sports has ensured that "it is a real pleasure that La Vuelta passes through Benidorm"; while De Zárate thanked the Diputación de Alicante that "has rejoined us," after last year the city welcomed the output of the penultimate stage of the test. The mayor has announced that the aerial plans of Benidorm will focus on the recently opened Foietes Park and Paseo de Poniente. On the sand of Poniente, in addition, is going to realize a composition with hammocks forming the words 'I love Benidorm'.

"This image of the city," he pointed out, "is the one to be projected" to the spectators of 190 countries in the world, including more than 1.4 million in Spain that will follow the retransmission of the stage through Teledeporte and TVE . A figure that could be higher since the stages that culminate in high, as is the case, tend to arouse greater interest among the spectators.

Given the expected time of arrival of the cyclists to Benidorm, the most likely is that the live connection of the information of La 1 of TVE - which every Sunday follow 1.5 million spectators - coincides with the passage of the cyclists through the city .

The manager of Mobility has indicated that about 90 minutes before the cyclists arrive in Benidorm the advertising caravan of La Vuelta that will stop in Avenida Armada Española and will carry out actions of sampling - distribution of samples and merchandising 'among the fans' who will follow the cyclists in the street.

Traffic Cuts

The streets and avenues where La Vuelta goes through, will be closed to traffic approximately half an hour before the runners pass, and will reopen about 15 minutes later. De Zárate has pointed out that the condition to traffic will not be too important, since Sunday is the day that fewer vehicles circulate in Benidorm.
