Benidorm City Council will allocate 45,000 euros to aid music schools and students in the city, which will be decided this coming Monday in informative committees and approved by the Local Government Board, as well as the bases that will govern the call.

The Councilor for Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez, explained that the City Council “is aware of the role played by the city's musical societies in the cultural and educational field and with this aid, we want to recognize their specific weight.” Pérez has pointed out that the musical societies of Benidorm carry out “an important work of disseminating musical culture” by carrying out activities and participating in different social, cultural, festive and institutional events throughout the year.

The councillor of Culture recalled that “this aid, which was created in 2016, helps finance the expenses of music schools and students, the acquisition and repair of instruments and computer equipment, and travel related to their activity. ”. In short, they “contribute to the ordinary functioning of these schools in which the future musicians of Benidorm begin to train.” Pérez has highlighted that “these schools for students are, in many cases, the first contact of the little ones with music, an artistic discipline with a deep tradition in Benidorm and that many of them combine with their training at the 'José Pérez Conservatory of Music'. Barceló' and with his incorporation into the bands."

For all this, Pérez continued, "We consider it appropriate to continue supporting their work" and hence this new call for the 'Music school or students' campaign has been made to grant subsidies to musical societies with a brass band that have music school or students in Benidorm.

The amount that will be granted to each of the music bands will depend on objective criteria such as the number of students studying, the staff of the band itself and the annual calculation of expenses linked to the school. In any case, the financial envelope of each subsidy awarded will not exceed the amount of 15,000 euros per entity.
