Benidorm hosts the second edition of ‘Poniente Race’ on October 17

On Saturday, October 17, the city of Benidorm will host the second edition of the ‘Poniente Race,’ part of the *Volta a Peu de la Marina Baixa* circuit. The race, presented this morning by Sports Councillor Javier Jordá, will follow an eight-kilometre route through the Poniente and La Cala areas.

The race will start at 6:00 PM on the Poniente Promenade, near the Poseidón Hotel. From there, the course heads toward La Cala via Villajoyosa Avenue and Oviedo Street, leading onto the Tamarindos Promenade. Participants will then return along the promenade to the starting point, completing the loop twice. The event is organised by the Benidorm Athletics Club (CAB) in collaboration with the City Council and is sponsored by Hoteles Poseidón.

Jordá noted that it promises to be "the largest and most colourful race on the Marina Baixa circuit," highlighting that "holding it in the evening is a great choice, as participants will enjoy our sunset right by the beachfront." Manolo Martínez, president of the CAB, announced that registration is now open at www.somesport.com. There are two registration options: one priced at 10 euros and another at 16 euros, which includes a pair of running shorts. "The goal of the race isn't fundraising, but rather promoting athletics," Martínez stated. He also mentioned that children's races would be held and emphasised that "registration will not be available on the day of the race."

Johannes Galiana, Communications Director for Hoteles Poseidón, also attended the presentation and encouraged everyone to participate, noting that "it’s not just about running, but about leading a healthy lifestyle." Galiana has expressed that he is “delighted” to collaborate on the event.
