Street Cleaning reminds property owners’ associations that, if they are planning to empty their swimming pools, they can contact Benidorm City Council or FCC to arrange for the water to be collected and reused for street cleaning

Benidorm City Council’s Street Cleaning Department, as in previous years, has drained the municipal swimming pool at Palau d’Esports L’Illa de Benidorm for maintenance work and will subsequently reuse the water for the daily cleaning of the city’s streets, Councillor for Street Cleaning Luis Navarro has announced. The operation began yesterday.

As on previous occasions, the water from the pool will be used to clean the streets for around ten days. This work is carried out every year in mid-August to allow maintenance work to be undertaken at the pool “while also ensuring that the water is put to the best possible use”, Navarro explained. The two pools contain more than 400,000 litres of water.

The councillor also took the opportunity to appeal to property owners’ associations planning to empty their swimming pools at the end of the summer due to repairs or leaks. He urged them, “rather than discharging the water directly into the sewage system, to notify the City Council or FCC so that the water can be collected and reused for street cleaning.”
