Castillo: “The new announcement of the second phase of the Cultural Center just months before the elections is an absolute joke”

The Socialist Municipal Group of Benidorm has described the new announcement made today by the Valencian Regional Government and Mayor Toni Pérez regarding the supposed unblocking of the second phase of the Cultural Centre as "an absolute farce and a serious lack of respect for the citizens." The Socialist deputy spokesperson, Sergi Castillo, denounced that, after more than three years in which the PP-led regional government "has done absolutely nothing" for this key infrastructure project for the city, the Popular Party is once again coming to Benidorm to sell empty promises with only nine months until elections.

The Socialist councillor stated that "nobody believes this scenario anymore," recalling the continuous contradictions, delays in signing agreements, and propaganda from the Regional Government and the local government regarding the Society for Digital Transformation Projects (SPTD). “We are facing yet another deception of all the residents of Benidorm. After more than three years in which no progress has been made, in which they have only come to take photos, make visits, and sell the idea that this would be a reality imminently, we find that now they are back again to take photos and announce the signing of an agreement that they publicized last December, and again claim they are going to invest 32 million euros when there is nothing budgeted,” Castillo stated emphatically.

To conclude, Castillo stressed that “this is a lack of respect for the residents of Benidorm, and we have to say enough is enough.” “We don’t want any more announcements or more election photos; we want the Cultural Centre, and we want it now,” he declared.
