Youth department wraps up the Summer Programme with games, inflatables and a foam party
Throughout July and August, a total of 144 young people and teenagers from Benidorm took part in this educational and leisure programme
A total of 144 young people and teenagers from Benidorm took part in the Summer Programme organised by the Department of Youth Affairs during July and August. The initiative offers an educational leisure programme for children and young people aged between 10 and 16, while also helping families balance their work and family commitments. The programme concluded today with a foam party, inflatable games and traditional games, enjoyed by almost 50 participants during the third and final two-week session. As with most of the activities, the closing event was held at Leonor Canalejas public school.
Councillor for the Youth Department Ana Soliveres thanked “the commitment of the instructors and the trust shown by all the participants and their families in this Youth Programme”. Once again, she said, the programme “has generated enormous interest thanks to the quality of the activities we offer and how much our young people and teenagers enjoy the full programme”.
The programme runs from Monday to Friday during the two central months of summer, divided into three two-week sessions, with 48 places available per session. Participants are divided by age into groups of 12. During the programme, they take part in various workshops, including emotional intelligence, robotics, recycling, and arts and crafts, as well as board games, outdoor activities, water games, hiking, visits to the beach or municipal swimming pool, and cultural excursions.
Soliveres highlighted that “the City Council provides families with an activity programme aimed at children and teenagers, allowing them to make the most of their free time during the summer through leisure activities where they can also learn new things in a fun and engaging way. It also allows them to spend these days with other people their age who attend different schools or secondary schools.” She added that, for many families, “it is a fantastic option for helping them balance their work and family commitments during a particularly busy period of the year”.
She also pointed out that, thanks to contributions from the City Council and the Valencian Youth Institute (IVAJ), the cost of participation was €50 per two-week session, making it “an affordable option for most households”. The programme therefore fulfils a dual objective: “to provide our boys and girls with educational, enjoyable and healthy leisure activities while, at the same time, offering families who do not have holidays during this period another resource where their children can spend their time and where they know they will have a fantastic time.”
