Benidorm will add 25 new local police officers to its force

Benidorm City Council is set to fill 25 Local Police officer positions, 15 through open recruitment and the remaining 10 through an internal mobility process. This was announced today by Councillor for Human Resources Ana Soliveres, who explained that “this process includes all the Local Police positions advertised to date.”

Soliveres recalled that “the City Council approved the terms and conditions for the recruitment of the 20 positions included in the 2023 and 2024 Public Employment Offers” in the middle of last year. However, this process, like other recruitment procedures launched across the Valencian Community to fill Local Police positions, “was put on hold pending a decision by the Valencian Government on how to implement two court rulings affecting mobility procedures.” This situation was resolved on August 11 with Law 5/2026, which accompanies the regional budget.

As soon as the law was published, “the Human Resources Department took all the necessary steps to reactivate the process already underway to fill those 20 positions and to add the five positions included in the 2025 Public Employment Offer.”

As a result, a total of 25 positions will ultimately be advertised: 15 through open recruitment, which will be open to anyone who meets the requirements, and the remaining 10 through the mobility process, reserved for people who already hold Local Police officer status in a municipality within the Valencian Community.

The Councillor for Human Resources said that “the file is now undergoing financial review” and that “in the coming days it will be ready to be submitted to the Local Government Board for approval.” The local government expects “the first tests in this recruitment process to take place before the end of the year” and for the process to be completed before the summer, so that the 25 new officers can begin serving in time for the peak tourist season.
